Mosey Along Now!

Twitter Changes Look of Suspended Accounts Page

I just noticed that Twitter has changed the look of the “Suspended Accounts Page”, did you see it?

Mosey_Along_NowI think it’s pretty neat how they “Cross Out” the Twitter Bird in the graphic, but it kind of gives me the feeling that they are giving the axe to the Twitter Logo. Or maybe it’s just a simple warning?

There is still a dilemma about the “Suspended Accounts” problem (at least in my book), here’s what I mean.

Twitter recognizes suspicious activity from any given user, so in their discretion they suspend the account, until a resolution is met. Which I feel is a good idea, but is it?

When we get the follower notice in our email, that a new follower has been added, and we click on the link to view the new followers page, we then are redirected to the “Mosey Along Now” page.

If the account has been suspended, does Twitter automatically delete that user from our follower list, or do we have to track that user down and remove or block them ourselves?

If not, how can we resolve this problem? There may be an obvious solution, that I am unaware of, and maybe you can help.

I’d love to hear your comments (or advise) on the matter at hand.

Look Who’s playing TAG with Twitter, it’s Facebook

Look Who’s playing TAG with Twitter, it’s Facebook

Want to play “Tag Your It?”

Well, in a recent article posted September 14th, 2009, and hot off the press, PCWorld’s Tony Bradley stated that:

Facebook has just introduced the latest feature in its ongoing evolution to blur the lines between social networking and search engine- tags. The new ‘@’ tags allow users to tag other users in posts and integrates a whole new realm of search capabilities.

In the article Tony mentions that they borrowed it from Twitter. But I think it may be just a ploy to make it more like their rivals and to try and get a jump on Twitter search capabilities.

how-to-update-your-facebook-status-with-twitterTony goes on to say that the use of the “@” tag will allow Facebook users to place the tag before another users name, so when other users click on the user tag they can see all the posts of the other user as well.

Now this may be a good thing for Facebook, but I wonder what Twitter has to say about the matter.

Also, I don’t know if I would want to see all the posts from another user on Facebook or not. Oh well, I’d like to know your take on the matter. So please post your comments below.

Microsoft Excel gone Twitter!

Hmm, Microsoft Excel gone Twitter

I just stumbled upon a really ingenious little website called Twixcel.com that was developed by
Alec Berg.

According to Alec Berg,

Twixcel is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that automates your twitter experience, by using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and VBA (Visual Basic Programming)

You can download this little program Twixcel.com while it’s still in beta and tinker around with it at your leisure.

Microsoft_excel

This program doesn’t have a lot of features, but from what Alec has mentioned on his website he plans on quite a few revisions in the coming months that will make it more user friendly as well as increasing its flexibility.

So, for those of you who don’t want to spend all your time online, this downloadable program will sure be the cat’s meow. Don’t forget to watch the videos that he has on the website. They are quite informative.

Oh, one more thing, if you’re not familiar with Excel or any other spreadsheet program for that matter I would venture to say, this is not for you. But those who are of the “Geek Elite” this may be right up your alley.

Twitter Updates Terms of Service

Twitter Updates Terms of Service

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s, Twitter is at it again, but this time it’s in our favor.
Based on the “New Terms of Service” on Twitter, things are looking up, but there are a few changes that you may want to take into consideration before you “Tweet Your Stuff.”

What you say on Twitter may be viewed all around the world instantly. You are what you Tweet!

I'm watching YOU!

I'm watching YOU!

The good news is, that you’re content (or Tweets, as they say) are yours, and not the property of Twitter. This I think is a huge step in the right direction for Twitter. Many social networking sites, (I won’t go into naming names here, that’s not my way of doing things) state in there terms of service, that once you post content on their service it now belongs to them, and you no longer have control over it, which in my opinion stinks big time.

You may want to check it out for yourself, but I do believe that Twitter has really summed it up quite nicely.

They go into quite a bit of detail when it comes to “Your Rights” as a Twitter User. And they put a lot of emphasis on the control and use of your own content. Just remember, the WORLD is WATCHING.

Until next time, be on guard with TwitterWatchDog.

Please Retweet this post to your followers, they’ll likely appreciate it.

Can Twitter, Facebook, MySpace become addicting?

Can Twitter, Facebook, MySpace become addicting?

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s,

Do you spend alot of time on social networking sites? Well, Ben Alexander thought so, when he recently admitted himself into ReStart. Who or what is ReStart? well after doing a little digging I found an article, on Fox News in my local area where Nicholas K. Gerands from the Associated Press writes:

addiction
The center, called ReSTART, is somewhat ironically located near Redmond, headquarters of Microsoft and a world center of the computer industry. It opened in July and for $14,000 offers a 45-day program intended to help people wean themselves from pathological computer use, which can include obsessive use of video games, texting, Facebook, eBay, Twitter and any other time-killers brought courtesy of technology.

You can read the whole story here.

So, before we close, I’d like to know, how much time do you devote to social media, and how can you tell the difference between it becoming an addiction, or just a part of your marketing plan.
