Hey, great summary of The Go-Giver! You ask, "Are you a Go-Getter or a Go-Giver," but if you look at Bob and John's most recent book (Go-Givers Sell More, just out 2/18), you find that Bob and John believe that most Go-Givers are also Go-Getters. This goes back to the law of reciprocity, where you want to be open to receive as well. In fact, it's a critical piece of the Go-Giver puzzle!

This Wednesday evening, 2/24/10, in The Experts Series, I'll be talking with Bob about this issue, plus Bob and John's new book, Go-Givers Sell More. Love to have you join us and participate in the conversation! http://www.theexpertsseries.com

Warmly,
Susan

Hey Al--

My thanks for sharing an overview of The Go-Giver! It feeds my soul to read your article because I have never been by nature a Go-Getter. Just not wired that way. But until today, I didn't know there was a name for the alternative! You inpire me to expand my "go-giving" and read the book! Glad to know about Tiwtter Watchdog too. (Ann Evanston sent me your way.)

All the Best,
Maridel Bowes

@alferretti, thank you for this piece on being a go-giver. I loved the book and told Bob Burg here on Twitter.
The "giving" habit takes some getting used to, as many people listen to one radio station: WIIFM (what's in it for me).

My grandmother, Selma, used to say that if you do three good deeds anonymously every day it is better for your heart, than any heart pills.

That wise woman also said that at the end of the day, you'll recall the good things you did and the smiles you put on people's faces...more that any material gift you received in life. My Grandparents worked very hard to bring their family here from Russia. Each time they brought over an uncle or a cousin they moved in with them, and my Grandfather helped them find work.

My Grandfather was a builder and many of the poor immigrants went to work for him, and they had lovely families. He told me at the end of his life, that his business had been great, only because it helped him accomplish his real mission in life...to bring as many family members to America as he could, and let them share the good life here.

You, Al Ferretti are definitely of the same ilk. You probably are the busiest guy in Minnesota, and yet you always find time to give of yourself, help us, say thank you to us...and that's the best part of any business.

Funny you should say that because I've always been a believer in giving - WHETHER OR NOT YOU RECEIVE IN RETURN. The article on my Home page titled What Drives You, finishes with my personal mantra: To bring hope to the hurting. All the proceeds from my novel, A Painful Post Mortem, go to two charities benefiting children worldwide and, to date, I've been able to send a substantial sum to each.

So thank you to all who bought books. It means so much to me to know that between us we've helped to keep someone's son or daughter from starting on drugs; or a little person orphaned by AIDS from starving to death. Take a look at the Links page on my website to learn more.

On a smaller scale, I'm in the process of making the material on my website more readily available. Having been a published author for over 25 years, I've been used to having to make my work copyright. However, I'm about to offer much of it (not all) for others to use on their websites. Watch this space.
