Coming Soon! Twitter to Launch Lists Feature
Nick Kallen @nk from the project lead on twitter lists reported that twitter is testing a new feature with a small subset of users.
Their idea is to allow people to curate lists of Twitter accounts. For example, you could create a list of the funniest Twitter accounts of all time, athletes, local businesses, friends etc.
The Lists would be public by default (but can be made private) and the lists you create are linked from your profile. Other Twitter users can then subscribe to your lists. This means lists have the potential to be an important new discovery mechanism for great tweets and accounts.
The Twitter platform team started working on this feature because of the frequent requests they received from people who were looking for a better way to organize information on Twitter. Of course, that means not just twitter.com—the Platform team will follow up in a few days with information on the Lists API. This will allow developers to add support for Lists into their favorite Twitter apps.
They’re just doing limited testing for now. But once they’ve tested the feature out a bit, they’ll launch it for all accounts!
Would you be interested in having this new list feature or do you not care?

I’m looking forward to it. My followers and those that I am following are so diverse. I’ve considered having more than one twitter account but want want to keep my business as simplified as possible. This should bring some new time efficiencies back into my marketing. Thanks for the heads up!
Cheers Christine
I think this is a great idea – it will help organize things much better. I hope they have success with it and make it available soon!
Excellent. Being able to create lists at Twitter without going to a third party ap would be great.
Bring it on, sooner the better I say.
I like it! Great way to get organized!
i can see the possibilities for the people in my Brains’ Trusts Groups to stay connected as long as the list is private. This would increase the ease of activating “feet-to-the-fire” interactions for my “Accountability Partnerships” here and in China.

Yes I would love more forms of organizaion!
Sounds a great idea. I’m for it!
This is why I use Tweetdeck so I can organize the stream. It would be really nice to be able to sift through all the “stuff” on Twitter itself and get at the information I’m most interested in from the people I really want to follow/listen to.
I love the idea of be able to organise my favourite Tweeters in several categories without having to go to a third app, as well. The more integrated Twitter becomes, the better I like it.
This would be absolutely fabulous! I hope it happens quickly
Hi John,

We agree with the potential factor.
What are the things you would say that make the potential enormous?

High Five to sooner the better.
Its nice to have the flexibility and customization options with third party tools, which is a reason why twitter is successful.
Having certain features built right in, makes things easier by not having too many tools, because then it can get confusing..

Hi Dr Jim Sellner,
You make a good point when you refer to your list.
Some people are thinking linear and only go directly for customers. All things being equal, if a person were to share more so in networking in partnerships and lists, WOW, that really opens the doors for even customers.
Have you tried http://tweetml.org ?
