Twitter Updates Terms of Service

Twitter Updates Terms of Service

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s, Twitter is at it again, but this time it’s in our favor.
Based on the “New Terms of Service” on Twitter, things are looking up, but there are a few changes that you may want to take into consideration before you “Tweet Your Stuff.”

What you say on Twitter may be viewed all around the world instantly. You are what you Tweet!

I'm watching YOU!

I'm watching YOU!

The good news is, that you’re content (or Tweets, as they say) are yours, and not the property of Twitter. This I think is a huge step in the right direction for Twitter. Many social networking sites, (I won’t go into naming names here, that’s not my way of doing things) state in there terms of service, that once you post content on their service it now belongs to them, and you no longer have control over it, which in my opinion stinks big time.

You may want to check it out for yourself, but I do believe that Twitter has really summed it up quite nicely.

They go into quite a bit of detail when it comes to “Your Rights” as a Twitter User. And they put a lot of emphasis on the control and use of your own content. Just remember, the WORLD is WATCHING.

Until next time, be on guard with TwitterWatchDog.

Can Twitter, Facebook, MySpace become addicting?

Can Twitter, Facebook, MySpace become addicting?

Hey Guy’s and Gal’s,

Do you spend alot of time on social networking sites? Well, Ben Alexander thought so, when he recently admitted himself into ReStart. Who or what is ReStart? well after doing a little digging I found an article, on Fox News in my local area where Nicholas K. Gerands from the Associated Press writes:

addiction
The center, called ReSTART, is somewhat ironically located near Redmond, headquarters of Microsoft and a world center of the computer industry. It opened in July and for $14,000 offers a 45-day program intended to help people wean themselves from pathological computer use, which can include obsessive use of video games, texting, Facebook, eBay, Twitter and any other time-killers brought courtesy of technology.

You can read the whole story here.

So, before we close, I’d like to know, how much time do you devote to social media, and how can you tell the difference between it becoming an addiction, or just a part of your marketing plan.

Until next time, be on guard with Twitterwatchdog.

How To Handle Twitter Drama

How To Handle Twitter Drama

Millions of people use Twitter. In fact, from anyone who has noticed, 2009 has been the year that Twitter literally exploded and finally became more mainstream. Many businesses and celebrities use the service in many ways.

Some celebrities share information of articles about them or where they are going to be if they are in the mood to welcome the public, or for pure publicity. Not long ago Trent Reznor of the band Nine Inch Nails decided that Twitter was no longer for him (by the way, the link to his old Twitter account is to a Twitter ‘Page not found.’ He had quite the followership and was quite active in his tweet stream. He got down with the masses of fans and haters alike to tweet. It was the haters who ended up the winner.

However, he has not been the only one to feel the glares and flamage. Businesses, celebrities, and even normal people on a daily basis on Twitter are getting the same treatment. It all boils down to how you handle the situation. If you have gotten into a situation where people are harassing you on Twitter, or any other social network.

1. Report to the service (Twitter or whatever other social network you use) if the accusations are threatening or defamation of character.
2. Just ignore it. Flamers get tired when you do not fuel the fire.
3. Block users you feel you do not want to hear from if they are persistent.

Not everyone will ever agree with what you say, so you may catch a few kerfluffles, but it is best to be laid back about the situation.

Here be dragons…

Here be dragons…

It still astounds me that many people I talk to in the business world see the Internet as ‘new’. They see it as a shiny new technology that really isn’t for them and is probably just a place to download music, movies and look at pictures of dogs doing funny things. Their only encounter with this wild frontier is when attempting to install software to stop their kids visiting unsavoury websites at home. Yes, the Internet means danger and as long as they don’t have to; they’re not going to get involved.
