What do you think? Block or UnBlock?
There’s been alot of scuttle but around the internet as to the effect of using social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter while in the workplace.

You Can Now Publish Your Facebook Page Updates to Twitter!
You Can Now Publish Your Facebook Page Updates to Twitter!
Although it is possible to publish your Twitter posts to your Facebook profile, you can now publish your Facebook Page updates to Twitter. In their article, Publishing to Twitter from Facebook Pages, they go through the details, but it really is not just a great Facebook tool, but also a great Twitter tool. However, I am sure anyone would wonder: why is this important?
A lot of businesses and individuals have separate pages to help with branding. However, sometimes the Facebook pages have content that would not normally be seen anywhere else. It also keeps your visitors focused on what you have to say. Although there are blogs, forums, and other social networks, this is a great tool to try to make sure your followers are up-to-date, even if you may not directly tweet from Twitter itself on a particular day.
The whole point about networking is to share content and hopefully influence people enough to either interact or purchase. It is a basic concept of social media. In Facebook doing this, it encourages people to share their content on other social networks. Obviously, Facebook realizes Twitter’s importance of real time search and content.
In fact, if you already have a Facebook page, you will see at the top a box that starts out with “Link Your Page to Your Twitter Account.” So, if you have followers in Twitter that do not know about your Facebook page, they will now!

To Follow or Not to Follow…
To Follow or Not to Follow…
If Shakespeare were alive now and using Twitter, would he be deliberating on who to follow?
I know I’ve asked myself that question a number of times. And other questions arise when people consider a “follow strategy.”
I’ve seen many viewpoints on the subject of who (and who not) to follow. Here are a few:
- I only follow people who I am really interesting in hearing from.
- I follow everyone who follows me because I think that’s the cordial way to use Twitter.
- If I’m following someone and they won’t follow me, then I’ll give them a few days but then I’ve got to unfollow them.
- I want scads of followers because I’ll be in a better position to market my products/services to them.
- I want scads of followers because, well, it’s just downright cool to have tons of followers.
- The more followers I have, the more credible I am.
- I don’t want an enormous number of followers. There’s no way I can pay attention to that kind of Twitter stream.
Here is a strategy I’ve come up with that I believe is a nice blend of a few key principles.
I do follow everyone who follows me. I believe that is cordial. I don’t worry about the immense stream of tweets coming to me as I’m using Tweetdeck. Tweetdeck allows you to create groups of people or groups of search topics that you can then follow in a separate column.
I want to follow just my close friends? Great, I create that group and that column is immediately available to me.
I want to follow a particular subject? No problem. I do a search on that subject and then keep the column there for me to check out each time I open Tweetdeck.
Now, I also have the big stream of tweets going by. And I check that out from time to time. If I see some interesting stuff, I go and check it out. If I really like a new Twitter friend of mine, I can put him into another group!
I believe this gets me the best of all worlds. I’m not being disrespectful to those who have chosen to follow me. And I’m not overwhelmed by a sea of tweets.
Now, I’m not robotic on this. If I see someone has followed me for strictly spam purposes or is into some things that are way off-color for me, then the handy unfollow button is pressed.
I have three Twitter accounts with about 4,500 followers total. I’ve got my groups on Tweetdeck. I’ve got my Tweetdeck on my iPhone. If I find myself on a desert island and I’ve got iPhone access, I’m thinking I’m in pretty good shape Twitter-wise! (and some way to recharge the battery of course)

Tweet Attack, Yikes!
All Your Tweets belong to us,
Hey Guy’s and Gal’s, while doing a search for the latest “twitter news” I came across an article about “Twitter botches patch for nasty account-hijackers” written by Dan Goodin out in San Francisco
In his article written on August 26th, he talks about the fact that Twitter Engineers have been fighting a gaping hole, that makes it easy for hackers to hijack the accounts of users, who do nothing more than view a booby-trapped message.” Read the rest of this entry »
Twitter is Tracking your clicks!
Twitter is Tracking your clicks!
Twitter went down today! Yes it went down again.
When it came back up I was doing my usual looking around on Twitter and I saw the URL
“http://twitter.com/link_click_count . . .”.
I asked some people on the web about this to see if they experienced the same activity on Twitter. Yes,
Others noticed the URL as well. When Twitter came back up, the redirects vanished.
Things that make you go hmmmm~
Word on the street is that Twitter wants to track all the links people click on the site…
