9 Twitter Tips for Business Owners
A number of different business owners have asked us for help on Twitter. Many of which are somewhat lost and confused on what to do and what not to do.
Here’s 9 basic (but important) tips for business owners, that we have shared
1. Need help on Twitter?
Take advantage of our free “Twitter Success Guide 2.0” by subscribing to our newsletter.
2. Twitter is first and foremost a place to engage, build relationships and provide value.
3. Define your objective… (for example Marketing, customer service, building relationships, etc)
4. Use a photo of yourself. (First impressions matter)
5. If you’re interested in connecting with someone new, read their bio and view their website. Be geniune and provide compliments.
6. Use Twitter Search with keywords to find real time information and conversations that are relevant to your business. It’s also a good way to find out if anyone is talking about you or your company.
7. Only Tweet what you want the entire world to see or go 1 on 1 with a direct message (DM).
8. Interact and connect (don’t hesitate to @ message peeps) who have tens of thousands of followers.
9. DO NOT SPAM. Use caution when pitching. Most likely you would not walk into a social event where you don’t know anyone and say, “Hi my name is Bob and say I have a once in lifetime opportunity for you today” This method does not work in the real world and the same goes for Twitter. Be Polite, be social, interact, have fun, offer value, show interest, etc.

I like how you mentioned that twitter is a real time interactive platform and that information marketing on such a plane should not be like the ads we see, ads that get rejected, on tv.
It’s also important to decide what objective you would want to achieve from your twittr account.
Vague goal = vague results.
