I love Hootsuite! There are several things for a small business owner that make it great!
1-being able to see what you sent – wow novel idea! Love that
2-the sent later function – this allows small buisness owners to set up their wisdom, tips, links etc in advance so when they get on twitter that can ENGAGE and build relationship! So smart and a great time saver!
3 – the url shorten on hootsuite allows you to track statistic so you can see click throughs – great feedback. Show you influence AND helps you think about how you position the link so people are interested to click it!

HootSuite works great with Fluid (Site Specific Browser) on the Mac. Like having your own HootSuite desktop application!
I agree with all above, one nice feature that would be great to add is the url shortener to be able to resend the link again easier, like having the share or copy feature on bit.ly. Other than that the tab and column features are great to be able to follow multiple conversations across different topics.
